From the same hands em> is a cycle of guided summer visits that seeks to streamline the ARQUIPÉLAGO collection and cultural assets belonging to different institutions in the Island of São Miguel. Starting with a selection of pieces from the ARQUIPÉLAGO collection, and establishing links with works produced by the same hands of the artists who created them, four visits focused on four works located in different contexts – a garden, a church, a meeting room of a company , a place of governmental decision – will be shared a look that will cross readings on the works hosted by these institutions and their sister works belonging to the collection of the arts center.
The four works, located outside the ARQUIPÉLAGO space, by artists represented in the collection of the arts center, will be in dialogue with four works of ARQUIPÉLAGO collection, not only at the time of the visit but also beyond it. In each month in which the visit to the institutional space where the piece in focus occurs, at the same time, the selected piece from the ARQUIPÉLAGO collection to be established correspondence will be displayed at the arts center, with an informative note about the part of the partner institution of the cycle.
From the sculpture to the painting, in non-museological contexts, some of public access others of private or semi-private access, will be approached in situ works of four different artists: Rui Chafes, Daniel Oliveira, Urbano and Maria José Cavaco. If on the one hand we appreciate works that have improved the relationship between art and citizens, transforming the common space, of collective enjoyment, beneficially, either by requalification and patrimonial valorization, or by the implicit civic sense, appealing to reflection or social indifference, on the other hand, we will also have contact with works that renew every day the perspective of decision makers and collaborators, benefiting spaces of work that are sometimes impersonal and aesthetically sterile, appearing as windows of contemplation and rest of the gaze transporting the observer to a liberating dimension of thought and activator of the mental circuits of creativity.
